Louis François Dauprat (* May 24th 1781 in Paris , † July 16th 1868 ) was a French horn player , composer and professor of horn at the Conservatoire de Paris . Dauprat first studied in the Maîtrise de Notre-Dame de Paris , then in 1795 by Joseph characteristic furnished (Nature) Horn class and won the 1798 first exposed to "Premier Prix". As a prize he was awarded a Inventionshorn from the then leading into Paris studio of Lucien Joseph Raoux . The instrument is now one of the most impressive pieces of the Museum of Paris Conservatoire. From 1806 to 1808 he was principal horn in the orchestra of the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux , from 1808 to 1811 in the Paris Opera Orchestra and the Conservatory in Paris. At both institutions he was succeeded by Kenn and soon after that of the famous solo horn player Frederic Duvernoy . He was principal horn in the royal and imperial court orchestras and permanent soloist of chamber music by King Louis Philippe . His numerous compositions he wrote specifically for his students for educational purposes. He played and taught only on the natural horn , but has for the very first attempts of flap horns interested.
