Argentine music band formed in 1981 by Uki Goñi, Marcelo O'Reilly, Ramiro Bustos Fierro and Chapete César. Los Helicópteros recorded four LPs before their split-up in 1987, the first three on the Mercury label for PolyGram and the fourth with DBN. Los Helicópteros defined their style as "Pep Music" and their career took off rapidly with their monumental 1982 hit "Radio Venus" from their first LP "Musica Pep". Along with other Argentine bands of the early 1980s such as "Virus" and "Los Twist" the band ushered in a new era that revolutionized the local music scene In 2005, the four orginal members released a fifth CD, "Girasoles" under the EPSA music label in Argentina, with guests appearances by a younger generation of Argentine mega-stars such as Adrián Dárgelos of "Babasonicos" and Flavio Cianciarulo of "Los Fabulosos Cadillacs" who were influenced by the music of "Los Helicopteros" at the start of their own careers.
