about

Los Canarios was a Spanish band that started playing back in the early sixties. They were knowm as Los Ídolos but changed their name to The Canaries and travelled to The United States in 1965. They did a beat album there, recorded at the RCA studios in Los Angeles. They had signed a contract with The Tokens' production company. The LP wasn't released then, and the band returned to Spain. They changed their moniker again and became Los Canarios. In 1967, they played Soul and R&B influenced music, singing mostly in English. Recorded in 1974, "Ciclos" shows an adaptation of VIVALDI’s "Four Seasons" with a rock and Hispanic flavour. This is a conceptual album with an interesting story line that goes from the creation of the Earth to the Apocalypse in 2700 A.C. "Ciclos" is a classic symbol of the Spanish progressive scene in the last Franco's years. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
