Singer/songwriter Lora Ryan is poised to make some noise in the independent music scene when she launches her untitled debut album scheduled for release in the spring of 2009. The 22-year-old Montrealer draws on personal experience to pen her lyrics, which can only be described as original and emotionally-driven, sometimes angry, often angst-ridden but always heart-felt and honest. "Music is my passion, my life. I would be nothing without it," she says. "In one way or another, music affects us all." In collaboration with her guitarist and producer Myles Truax, Lora's CD is near completion with nine of the 12 tracks recorded, a task which would have been daunting to someone less dedicated than Lora. With more than 1000 songs in her repertoire of original music, Lora is well-versed in the creative process. In addition to her musical collaboration with Myles, Lora also works closely with partner Brian Arnold in their own West Island headquarters, Sunshine Studios. With the recording of her CD almost complete and the hours of practicing with her band in preparation for upcoming live shows, Lora is now ready to set the stage for her own brand of edgy pop/rock music, a journey which has been years in the making. "This hasn't happened overnight, I've been working towards this my whole life," she says.
