Artist
Long Conversations and the Closet Orchestra started in August 2007 when Olaf Caarls (24; guitar, vocals, harmonica) started playing solo shows more regularly. Through the Leiden based record label Minderbinder Music he released an EP, which booked him a place in the final for the "Grote Prijs van Zuid-Holland" -- which he subsequently won -- a spot on the Popronde festival, and, eventually, a place in the finals of the Grote Prijs van Nederland. Olaf plays shows, big and small, weekly now, opening for a balladeer and Damien Jurado, among others, and featured on Radio 5's Desmet Live. At these shows more and more often he's accompanied by bass, piano, cello and percussion; played by Bastiaan, Kelly and Edoardo. (Yes, one of them plays two instruments -- but I won't tell you who it is). With the means presented to him by winning the "GPZH", Long Conversations released their debut-album, "The Getaway"; a record about "trains, buses, and other means of transportation", if Olaf is to be believed. Which he is not. Never. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
