Lonely Gimmick is the brainchild of Samuel Powell. Formerly an anonymous artist also going by the alter ego Max Pow. Samuel Powell used both these names as pseudonyms to hide their real identity. Recently retiring the "gimmick" of being anonymous as they felt it no longer aligned with the direction their music and image was heading. Revealing their identity to be Samuel Powell. Originally born and raised in Wimbledon. Sam has been writing, recording and producing indie music from the early age of 15. Growing up as a child in Wimbledon, Samuel was surrounded by successful indie artists such as "Good Shoes" and "Jamie T". Once as a young child playing a football game with members of Good Shoes and whose older brother went to primary school with Jamie T. The noughties indie sound went on to heavily influence Sam's sound. Sam was originally trained as a classical pianist from the age of 6 reaching grade 6 and picking up electric guitar at 12 because "all the cool kids were doing it". At the age of 14, Samuel moved to Kingston, Canada and formed his first band "An Island's View" (shortened to "AIV"). With other members including "Owen Davies" of "The Strange Happenings" and Spencer Curtis of "Sunforger". "An Island's View" had some local success in Canada as a support act opening for successful artists and bands "Hollerado", "The Pack AD" and "Grimes". Eventually moving back to London at age 22 Samuel studied music production and engineering at LCCM in London, England. Samuel P
