London Zoo formed, under the distinctly punk-era name of Blunt Instrument, in London in May 1977. Drummer David Sinclair had recently moved to London from Giffnock, Scotland, and was the only person who turned up to an audition conducted by guitarist/vocalist Robert Sandall and bassist Ed Shaw.
