A lot can happen in six months. For Lions At Your Door, the past six months have marked a significant change. Not only has the Sydney sextet released its debut EP, toured the country, lost a member, gained a member, played the summer festivals, been picked up by one of the biggest booking agencies in the country and had a much deserved miniholiday, they've also managed to write a slew of new material in between. “We took a family holiday to the mountains, locked ourselves up in a cottage with a bunch of local produce and just wrote. We'd wake, eat and write. It was a fantastic experience,” says lead singer Marihuzka. The result of their self-imposed confinement seemed to be a new found direction in sound. “We didn't set out to write different material. It happened very organically. We had a bunch of ideas we wanted to develop and the result was six songs that all sound quite different to any other LAYD material.” And the band couldn't be happier. Their new material rings of maturity and sounds like a band that has found its musical feet, feet that move in more directions than just the dance floor. The band is rolling out this new LAYD sound with a pre-single(?) Records - a sweet-as-fairy-floss homage to the pop songs of the 60s. “We really wanted to put something fun out first, so a pre-single seemed like a cool idea.
