To explain the sound of Pretoria's Liberty Valance, would be a Sisyphean exercise in futility. If forced to attempt, the most often mentioned features would be the combination of intelligent lyrics, frustrated anger and reason. Liberty Valance takes you on a journey spanning from the 70's British punk-scene with its raw, nihilistic tendencies, through to the aggresive energy of the hardcore movement, straight to the varied and calculated emotional range of modern underground music. Through the machine-gun barrage of music, a thinking listener will pick up on the themes of Liberty Valance: Life, Love, Hate, Death, and the growing and decaying of personal relationships in a disorientating, Kafka-esque world, as seen through the whiskey-soaked, smoke-filled eyes of a twenty-something year-old. With these themes in mind, Liberty Valance's music has progressed into a trademark sound of conviction, sincerity and power. Liberty Valance finds pleasure in what they do, and the five members convey a message deeper than just a mohawk and a middle finger. With their dedication to their music, their devotion to punk rock and their powerful messages, Liberty Valance is set to receive the respect they so righteously deserve.
