Artist
Guitarist / composer Liberty Ellman was born in London, England in 1971. He is loosely associated with the avant-new music related scenes in New York, working with artists like Henry Threadgill, Butch Morris, Greg Osby and Vijay Iyer. He has also contributed to performaces and / or recordings with Joe Clausell, Groove Collective, Mike Ladd and Jen Chapin. Other credits include Barney McAll, Miya Masaoka, Ann Dyer, Chico Hamilton, and Josh Roseman. Liberty Ellman has three critically acclaimed albums featuring his own music to date: Orthodoxy (1997, Red Giant Records), Tactiles (2003, Pi Recordings), and Ophiuchus Butterfly (2006, Pi Recordings).
