Singer/songwriter Lesse, has dreamt of a career in music since he was 8 years old. He was mesmerized by the idea that all beauty in the world could be captured in sound and text and shared using his own voice. The fight between ambition and fears turned out to be a source of inspiration to create honest and tender songs. This led to Lesse releasing his first single “The Ghost” on November, 22nd, 2018. Available for listening on Spotify and Apple Music. As a young boy, Lesse, alias for Hessel van Hoorn, used to sing everywhere; while biking to school and even in front of his classmates. Nothing and nobody could stop him, until his parents decided to separate. From being an outgoing and optimistic person, Lesse changed into a shy and withdrawn person, closing down to his former public. Still, playing the piano attracted him. While alone, he would improvise and sing while on the piano. Music was always his way of expressing his feelings. He studied Composition and Music Technology at the HKU University of the Arts in Utrecht. After his graduation he became audio designer for the radio, where he could be part of the music industry. Singing became his hobby again, and took lessons from his vocal coach Muriël van Dinteren. She believed in Lesse’s vocal qualities and encouraged him to pursue a singing career. Lesse charged up his courage and gathered a team of musical experts to shape his career in music. He chose for the artist name “Lesse”, his first name backwards, as a metaphor
