Leslie Tay, born Leslie Edjila K.Tay 13 May 1989 in Malmö, is a Swedish music producer, songwriter and singer. Tay grew up in Seved in the district of southern Sofielund in Malmö, something he also portrayed in his music. Large parts of his upbringing in a problem-heavy living environment are depicted in two documentaries by Stefan Berg. "Pojkar" (2004), revolves around the committed deputy principal Per Horneij at Sofielundskolan in Malmö, where Tay was then one of the pupils. The principal saw Tay's talent and inspired him to invest in music. Based on this, the second film emerged, "Leslie - killen som kommer att glänsa", shown on Swedish Television in 2008. The film follows the young artist's further development for five years until he turns 19 years old. He produced hip-hop for various artists, such as "Before U Know It" for Adam Tensta's Grammy Award-winning debut album It's a Tensta Thing (2007). After that, Tay stopped hip hop and retired for a few years. In 2019 Leslie Tay was nominated for P3 Guld's hip hop / RnB of the year for his album "Vilja och tålamod". In 2017 he was nominated for The Grammys for the producer of the year together with Amr Badr for the album "Sherihan", with Cherrie, who also won hip hop / soul of the year and was nominated for album of the year.
