Les Vinyl is a rock and roll band. Their sound is upbeat but they’re cool about it. They don’t try too hard and they don’t over complicate things. The “standard” two guitars, bass, and drums set up, is a platform for songwriting that is familiar while still being, at times, unconventional. "Quirky and Catchy" are common descriptions of this very original Staten Island treasure. Front-man and lead guitarist Casey Jost, a writer for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, applies clever wordplay over distinctive guitar parts. Jenny Miller provides a tight rhythm guitar style along with tender and breathy backing vocals. The drum and bass section balances the treble-heavy leads. Pat Given on drums and bassist Mike Carlo have the ability to dynamically go from a soft pulse to loud thunder while always remaining faithful to the intentions of the songwriting. The song always comes first with these talented young musicians. Yet, that is not say there isn’t room for improvisation. The loose nature of their live performance offers the audience a break from the over-produced world of pop but the familiarity of likable hooks and tones. In a short time, Les Vinyl has managed to win over fans in several scenes. They’ve played shows with punk bands, pop outfits, and even surf rockers. After a show smack-dab in the middle of 4 hardcore bands, several face-studded attendees mentioned how refreshing Les Vinyl sounded.
