Les Ongles Noirs: The group started out when three Parisians: two former art school students and a thermal engineer/sometime pianist - Yvan, Mathieu and Sylvain - had the idea of putting together a few songs and going on the road to Brittany to play at summer festivals, in cafes, and in the street. After that summer tour, back in the French capital, they started playing their version of classic "parigot" songs, the (formerly) popular music of Paris's working class, throughout the city. Little by little, they worked up their own repertoire and become Les Ongles Noirs, performing on guitar, washtub bass and accordion. All three sing and write songs. Hundreds of concerts followed, in Paris and throughout France. With 400 shows under their belts, they decided to add a saxophone to the group, then drums. The washtub was retired for a real stand-up acoustic bass. During that time, their first self-recorded, self-mixed, self-mastered, self-produced CD was self-distributed to 6,000 listeners. Songs on that disk, plus others, were included on their 2007 CD, "Pourquoi tu perds ton calme," released in January 2007 on the Productions Speciales label. Over the next year, their music became much more rock- and funk-oriented. In January 2012, the group releases the album "Des Fantômes dans nos têtes" (Ghosts in Our Heads).
