Artist
Leonhart Schröter (also Leonhard Schröterus; born probably 1532 in Torgau; died probably 1601 in Magdeburg) was a German composer and Lutheran cantor. He attended the Princely School in Meissen from 1545 to 1547. He then worked as a city cantor in Saalfeld from 1561 to 1576. During this time, he was also the first librarian under Duke Julius of Brunswick-Lüneburg (1528-1569) at his library in Wolfenbüttel from about December 1571 to November 1572. In 1576 Schröter moved as a cantor to the Old Town Latin School in Magdeburg, where he remained until his retirement in 1595.
