Lenna Kuurmaa (born September 26, 1985 in Tallinn, Estonia) is an Estonian musician, singer, songwriter, and a member of the girl group Vanilla Ninja. Born to Rain and Anne Kuurmaa, she has one brother, Raido, who is 3 years older. At the young age Lenna joined the ETV girls choir and had a great interest in, and studied music. At this time Lenna was learning to play the violin. Lenna's hobbies are music and sports, she likes soccer (football), enjoys dancing, listening to music and of course she likes to sing. Preferring R&B, Hip-Hop, and Punk, she was influenced by the 80's music era and likes bands Depeche Mode, The Rasmus, and P!nk. Lenna Kuurmaa grew up in Tallinn and there she was educated and attended the same secondary school with Maarja Kivi. After leaving school Lenna with her class mate Maarja Kivi and 2 other Estonian girls of similar age Piret Järvis and Katrin Siska, met a producer in Tallinn and together formed the band Vanilla Ninja. Lenna played guitar but also developed into the lead singer and the band had great success across Europe and in Japan. The band was also a contestant in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005. Later Lenna expanded into writing songs for the band, with one of her songs entered for the Estonian 2007 Eurovision Song Contest, titled "Birds of Peace".
