The band was founded in the summer of 2007 by Vincent van Karsbergen (drums), Thomas Harmsen (bass) and Camille van de Pavert (guitars). Within a few weeks they decided to ask Tom Tukker (vocals) to become the front man of the band. Lemmascent still operates in this successful line up today. In 2008, the band entered a local band contest called ‘het Beleg van Zeist’. Impressed by the band’s performance, the jury unanimously decided that Lemmascent was the best band of the night. This small victory led to more bookings, enabling the band to improve their live act and becoming a force to be reckoned with. After six months the band was invited to play at EKKO (Utrecht) to compete in the semi-finals of band contest ‘Clash of the Titans’ in December 2008. According to the website of ‘Clash of the Titans’: “It was the toughest round in the whole competition”. Barry Hofstede, drummer of Dutch punk heroes The Stilettos, commented: “Those guys are so ambitious that you can feel it when they’re on stage. I think I speak for the majority of the crowd when I say, thát show was a party!” This major achievement in the career of the band brought the dedication to their musical project to a higher level. A summer full of gigs in clubs and at festivals has resulted in a steady reputation as an energetic live band. In 20
