Luttazzi's career spanned several decades and he became known for his innovative contributions to music and entertainment in Italy. Luttazzi began his musical journey during his law studies at the University of Trieste amidst World War II. He started playing the piano at Radio Trieste and composed his first songs during this period. After the war, he decided to pursue music full-time after receiving a significant financial gain from the Italian Society of Authors and Publishers (SIAE) in 1946. In 1948, Luttazzi moved to Milan, where he collaborated with notable figures in the music industry, including Teddy Reno at CGD (Compagnia Generale del Disco), one of Italy's leading record labels at the time. He was a pioneer in integrating jazz structures into Italian popular music and is credited with inventing the rhythmic string orchestra. Luttazzi's versatility extended beyond composition; he also acted in films and television. He gained fame as a radio presenter with programs like Hit Parade, which became one of Italy's longest-running radio shows. His filmography includes notable works such as L'Avventura (1960) and Rocco and His Brothers (1960) among many others.
