Calling on influences from Counting Crows, Dream Theatre, Rush, The Old 97s, Simon and Garfunkel, to Toad the Wet Sprocket, Left on Dorris creates a distinctive sound that fuses modern rock, folk and alternative country. “Strand” is the third CD release from this veteran Pittsburgh quintet. With the help of engineer and producer Matt Harrington of Soundscape Studios, the band has created a dynamic eclectic adult - alternative modern rock record with the great songs, great vocals and the delicious melodic hooks that its fans have come to expect. Formed in the late 90's, Left on Dorris' initial success came on the Western Pennsylvania college circuit. Their danceable blend of folky pop-rock featured on their first two recordings drew droves of fans from the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon, California University and many other local colleges. ‘”We live to play rock and roll," says Martin McKay, the band's ambitious singer-songwriter - guitarist. McKay, along with guitarist Bob Boyd, drummer Dan Boyd, and bassist Sean Weida, form the core of LOD, and have been playing together since 1996. The newest member of the band, vocalist Stacy Pomroy, joined the band for the ‘Strand’ recording sessions and has added the strong vocal harmonies and counter-melodies to the band’s signature sound.
