As a young musician, (19 yrs.), Pierre was asked to become the first fiddle player with the Grammy winner and legendary "Queen Ida and the Bon Temps Zydeco Band" of Lake Charles, Louisiana. After his first engagement with the band at the Monterey Jazz Festival, Monterey, California, Pierre was given the opportunity to spend years studying the music of the southern states of America while performing and recording and with Queen Ida, her younger brother Al "Rapone" Lewis, and occasionally playing double fiddle with the Grammy winner (and also legendary) Bluesman from Lafayette, Louisiana, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, and many other veteran musicians. Pierre was learning the tradition of southern American music from the roots up. In the hands of Pierre, however, the traditional sounds of the South are served up as a furious, modern mixture, with surprises waiting around every corner. Pierre's sound is heavily infused with Cajun, Zydeco and Bluegrass and with the hip-shaking-swashbuckling-gypsy-outlaw allure, and soul of his childhood hero, Doug Kershaw the "Ragin' Cajun". Pierre has had the bow-hairs screaming for mercy everywhere from New Orleans to Helsinki. Since 1985, Pierre has led his own band and recorded several LPs and CDs under his own name.
