LAUTMUSIK (“loud music”, in German) was formed in the Fall of 2006 in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Mainly influenced by 80s post-punk and 90s guitar rock and shoegaze, its music does not fit, however, into either of these categories, as it ambitions solely to reflect band members’ diverse musical taste and life experiences. Autoproduced debut 6-track EP, Black Clouds with Silver Linings, was recorded independently in Porto Alegre and released in December, 2007. Since the debut show in 2007, the band played gigs in all of the traditional venues in Porto Alegre, released the autoproduced EP “Black Clouds with Silver Linings”, participated on the compilation “Retratos Subterrâneos” (“Subterranean Portraits”), released in São Paulo, was reviewed in Spain and had a gig mentioned in the Popload blog. In 2008 the band made its first appearances in festivals (Grito Rock Porto Alegre, Gig Rock V, Aquarela Rock, in Sorocaba) and was featured in the cover of specialized website Tramavirtual and of Loaded e-zine, both from São Paulo. With lyrics in English and German, the band aims at amalgamating its manifold influences (ranging from Joy Division to My Bloody Valentine, from The Cramps to Cocteau Twins) while bringing a fresh, creative and unique flavor to its music.
