Lauren Thomas’ early exposure to blues and rock as well as classical training on the violin and a culturally diverse upbringing all helped her gain a broad perspective on the infinite possibilities of music. In today’s limitless sea of aspiring singer-songwriters, Lauren stands apart. Lauren was born to a Mexican mother and an Anglo father. The result was a fair skinned beauty with big brown eyes and a whole lot of culture to explore. Then heavily influenced by her Japanese stepmother’s heritage, Lauren spent several summers in Japan. This led to her first stage performance at a local youth concert in the Chofu district, Tokyo. Lauren recalls, “I played my guitar and sang before an audience of cheering new friends shouting out enthusiastic bits of broken English, ‘Hello! American! I love you!’” Lauren played her great grandfather’s violin at Carnegie Hall and has appeared with the American Orchestra to celebrate World Music Days in honor of journalist Daniel Pearl. She played lead guitar briefly in a girls band and began writing lyrics, performing locally, and recording at the Barry Paul Studios in North Hollywood. Lauren recently became the first young female artist added to the Brazen Guitar lineup headed by legendary guitarist Caleb Quaye. Her unique 5-string electric violin is hand-made by famed violin maker John Jordan and is played through a Marshall half-stack guitar amp at larger venues.
