Laura&the comrats are a folkrock band from vienna/austria, emerging from vienna songwriter scene. how they came to be: first it was only laura and her songs at several of the vienna open stages and songwriter nights. thats where she met tino, esch and jim and marc. tino and laura formed a duo in 2003, two years later esch joined in (is that right? might have been 2004 as well...) in 2005 we asked critical jim to play with them... eventually esch got marc in as a drummer - and voilà: magic. eschs folk guitar style blends fine with jims guitar licks, marcs rolling drums, tinos double bass and lauras voice and songs. occasionally there´s laura performing on her own, without rats ("laura sans rats"). As for her songs, they are an attempt to see through the mess that she makes out of her life sometimes (and thus embrace it). she loves good metaphors and images, there´s nothing better... always been fascinated by the contradiction of sadness and happyness in popmusic - cos the great songs touch a nerve, make you happy and sad, usually both at the same time. and the good guys/girls always are a bit bad too.
