Artist
Laura Goldhamer and the Silvernail draws from a variety of purely American traditions; however, Laura’s ability to merge traditional Americana with the avant garde is what has earned her numerous accolades, including Westword magazine’s 2010 Mastermind Award, given to her for being a “cultural visionary” in the Denver arts community. During Silvernail performances, she projects her intricately composed stop-animation films (which she has made to illustrate her song lyrics) behind the band to sync with the music. It is Laura Goldhamer’s ability to connect people, organize, and work creatively and tirelessly that has made her a vibrant fixture in the arts of the Mile High City, and beyond. Graduated from Wesleyan University with a degree in music and religion, where she participated in various musical ensembles, including conglomerations of the talented Joaquin Cotler (keys), Owen Roberts (drums), Greg Donahue (bass), and Caley Monahon-Ward (fiddle) [as appears on the videos for "Born There" and "Little Baby"], as well as Cassye Dunkhase (cello) and Chris McDonald (computer knobs and levers) [as appears on the video for "Gently Now"], with George Blake (flute) [appearing on the video for "Float"], and with Ashraf Rijal (clap stomp composition on "No Ability").
