about

The Laudate Renaissance Choir is a mixed amateur choir from Zagreb cherishing secular and sacred music by European Renaissance composers. From 1983 to 2009, its members were active within the Vatroslav Lisinski Singing Choir. However, music from other historical periods is also performed, sacred in particular. The choir promotes Croatian musical heritage through concerts given home and abroad, but it also enjoys performing classical music for audiences that do not tend to go to cultural events. Since 2007, the choir has been conducted by Ms. Elena Konovalova. Under her guidance, the choir won second place at the Croatian Singing Choirs Festival in Novigrad in 2008, and it was first at the Zagreb Singing Choirs Competition, in the Chamber Choirs Category. Ms Elena Konovalova, the Conductor of Laudate, was born in the Ukraine. She acquired the title of Theory Teacher at the Tchaikovsky School in Russia. After moving to Croatia, she completed Musical Culture Studies at the Academy of Arts Osijek. In 1994, she became conductor of the Children's Choir at the Ivan Zajc School of Music in Slavonski Brod, winning numerous awards both home and abroad. In 2003, she took employment as theory teacher and conductor of girls' and children's choirs at the Zlatko Baloković School of Music in Zagreb. Under her guidance, the choirs won first places at the Music Festival of Croatian Youth in Varaždin, in 2006 and 2007. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA Lic
