Last Friday's Fire was a band from Phoenix, Arizona, led by musical wunderkind Mike Condello and basically an outgrowth of his various Condello Combo groups. The group took its name (somewhat darkly) from the Apollo 1 launchpad fire of January 27, 1967--the week before the group was assembled for its first sessions. Last Friday's Fire released three poppy singles on Lee Hazlewood's LHI label -- "What Is She Thinking Of" b/w "I Can't Help The Way I Feel", "Something's Happening" b/w "Stand And Shout", and "Rose Colored Corner" b/w "The Lady Barber" (with Lynn Castle). Castle would go on to continued success as a singer and songwriter; Condello would soon record his classic "Phase 1" LP as well as his classic Beatles parodies as Commodore Condello and his Salt River Navy Band.
