Artist
Lasse Thoresen (born 1949) is a norwegian composer, who is often associated with contemporary music. He is educated by the Music conservatory in Oslo (later Norwegian Academy of Music) under Finn Mortensen (1972), and by Werner Kaegi (Utrecht, 1973). Since 1975 he has been teaching and researching in the fields of electrophony, sonology and composition, and is now professor of composition at the Norwegian Academy of Music. Thoresen has recieved the price Årets verk (Work of the Year) from Norsk Komponistforening (1981 for Stadier i den indre dialog; 1993 for Illuminations and AbUno), Kritikerprisen (for Qudrat, 1987), Lindemanprisen (1987) and Edvard-prisen (2003) in contemporary music for Løp, lokk og linjer. In 2010 he won the Nordic Council's Music Prize for his vocal work «Opus 42», which consists of four pieces specifically composed for the vocal group Nordic Voices.
