To extract something new from the somewhat dried-up folk genre you'd have to squeeze it really hard. That is why many efforts to do so have ended up producing nondescript radio pop or overly ambitious and stilted interpretations. With this risk in mind, Lambs & Wolves have chosen to follow a more traditional approach for their music. “Not A Party At All” is a collection of melancholy songs that offer a welcome reprieve from other products more in line with the "zeitgeist" of pop production. By staying true to the musical roots and inspirations chosen for the album the band has not merely avoided German overengineering but made a truly consistent new folk record.
