LaiF hails from Baltimore, Maryland. He got his start recording and performing as one-third of the trio Unit Steele - alongside Cyndiva and DJ F. LaiF became known for his rhythmic flow, versatility in subject matter, and unconventional approach to writing and recording. He has been cited as a great story teller. In 1998, he released a song called "Egyptian Nights" to several internet outlets. The song garnered a fair amount of attention and gained LaiF a small following, on which he never really capitalized. Now known as skoolafish, he has reunited with Unit Steele and is currently working on a full-length project, tentatively titled "The Real US (Unit Steele)."
