Lahav Shani is an Israeli conductor and pianist, born on July 7, 1989, in Tel Aviv, Israel. He is recognized as one of the most exciting and promising young conductors of his generation. Shani began his musical journey as a pianist, showing exceptional talent from a young age. He studied piano at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in Tel Aviv and later continued his studies at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin. Shani gained recognition as a pianist, winning numerous awards and performing with prestigious orchestras. However, his true passion and talent for conducting soon became evident. Shani began conducting at a young age and quickly established himself as a remarkable and insightful conductor. In 2013, he won the Gustav Mahler International Conducting Competition in Bamberg, Germany, propelling his career to new heights. Shani has since held significant positions with renowned orchestras, including being the Chief Conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the Music Director Designate of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also been invited to conduct numerous prestigious orchestras around the world, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Known for his dynamic and expressive interpretations, Shani brings a fresh and passionate approach to the podium.
