LA PURA REALIDAD is a major band of the current Mexican progressive scene, and holds a special significance as a key intersection for multiple traits and references such as: - a local Mexican progressive tradition, whose ideas, musical themes and sounds are being incorporated and matured into a fully developed new and at the same time old product, establishing bridges of continuity for something which therefore might be called a school - a similar relation to a broader Latin American tradition of progressive rock with heavy and aggressive sounds, eclectic tastes and influences, and common foundations set in King Crimson interpretation, a regional school which spans through Argentina, Chile and Mexico, from the 70s and founding fathers BUBU (Arg) to current day CABEZAS DE CERA (Mex) or MAR DE ROBLES (Chi) - the Latin American traditional music and culture, whose integration into the LA PURA REALIDAD’s music is both a return to cultural roots and also a continuation of the classic 70s “andean” prog from Chile and Peru LA PURA REALIDAD is led by the experienced musician Manuel Lhoman (ex-DELIRIUM, ex-HIGH FIDELITY) on bass; other members are the excellent musicians guitarist Mauricio Terrón, Adolfo Zaragoza on guitar and jarana, drummer Jorge Alanis and violinist Hanna Hipakka.
