Artist
La Dante is the creation of singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Maxwell Perla. After spending over a decade as a drummer, singer and songwriter for a wide range of acts in Philadelphia and New York City, Perla is finally ready to present his own unique voice to the world. La Dante is currently readying the release of his debut EP Womanamerica. The four song record serves as a shining example of what Gram Parsons once dubbed “cosmic American music.” Drawing influence from Muscle Shoals, Stax Records, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Neil Young, Lee Hazlewood, the Rolling Stones, the Dap Kings and more, Womanamerica presents multiple classic genres, including soul, country and retro pop, paired together in a bold and innovative way. Perla uses this sonic backdrop to paint vivid lyrical pictures, crafting timeless songs about the searchers and wanderers of life. Lead single “Mexico Sunrise” is a Philly soul-soaked ballad about two lovers together forever, even when alone. The track is emblematic of the record as a whole, a meditation on the struggles of finding oneself, and of making a life with the ones you love. Womanamerica stands to be a promising and evocative debut from La Dante, one that generates much excitement as he plans to round out 2018 with a record release show as well as supporting dates in Philadelphia and New York City. More recordings are already being prepared, with releases for 2019 currently being planned. User-contributed text is available u
