L'Chaim ("to life!") is a klezmer / balkan / gypsy band, who bring out the Eastern-European spirit that is in everyone of us. L'Chaim plays traditional songs as well as songs of their own. Lyrics are in different languages (jiddisch, roma, slavic, spanish, italian, polish, greek and even in iranian, romanian and turkish!) Concerts have been played with 11 as well as 4 musicians. The group currently consists of 10 members: Wim Houben (vocals), Maurits Karstkarel (saxophone), Just Lavooij (contrabass), Jorge Peregrin Emparanza (guitar), Pepijn Noordhuizen (accordion), Wijbrand Luth (bouzouki), Sylvia Thijs (violin), Jochem Jonkman (clarinet), Peter Mooij (cajon), Li Jan (saxophone) and Mark Buitenhuis (rabbi). The band has been founded in Delft (NL).
