Léa Dan is the artist name of Vanessa Van Strijthem, born on 6 February 1973 in Etterbeek. She took part in the Belgian preselection of the 2002 Eurovision Song Contest. Her song Comme une enfant (Like a Child) came 4th with 18 points in the first semifinal. Her artist name referred to her Jewish roots. The name ‘Dan’ means gift. At the age of 13 she already perform in a play where she had to sing a cappella. Since her performance in that play she started writing her own songtexts. Meanwhile you can see and hear her on the television, radio and cinema. She can sing, act, dance en present. Léa isn’t very known in the Flemish part of Belgium because she French speaking and especially active in the Walloon part of Belgium.
