about

There are two Kurushimi(s): 1) Improvised grindcore/free jazz/experimental rock/noise group from Sydney, Australia. This deconstructionist noise-jazz ensemble disassembles and blends elements of improvised jazz, grind, hip hop, doom, noise, prog and more. Think a monstrous fusion of Ornette Coleman, Morbid Angel, Bill Laswell, John Zorn and Bohren & Der Club Of Gore. Improvised grindcore or 'free-grind' has been something Bassist Andrew Mortensen has been wanting to do since he was a teenager. Kurushimi came to fruition through Andrew re-joining the Violence In Action collective. He participated in guitarist Simon Dawes' ViA 'splinter' project called Posedion. 2) Saya Sakura has been a revolving member in a number of noise/drone projects over the last 12 years. She has self-released several now out-of print drone albums under the name Kurushimi. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
