Kurt Moll

Kammersänger Professor Kurt Moll was born 1938 in Cologne. He has studied at the Hochschule in Cologne and got his first engagement 1961 in Aachen. After some seasons in Mainz and Wuppertal he was engaged at the Staatsoper Hamburg in 1970. In this summer he sang also his first Sarastro at the Salzburg Festival under W. Sawallisch. Then came Teatro La Scala with Osmin and Vienna with Gurnemanz. From 1973 until 1977 Bayreuth Festival with several parts like Fafner, Pogner, Kinq Marke, Hundinq etc. 1975 he became the titre Kammersänger. His debut at Covent Garden was in 1977 as Kaspar/Freischütz. The MET debut followed in 1978 Landgraf/Tannhäuser and from then on all seasons in different parts. He is guesting in all major houses of the world, has a lot of records produced (more than 100 in opera, lieder and oratorio). Last important engagements: June/July 1994 La Scala, Milano, Abduction of the Serail; October 1994 Tokyo with Vienna. Rosenkavalier under Kleiber. November 94 Tokyo with Düsseldorf: Zauberflöte. Coming engagements: Feb/March 1995 Rosenkavalier Covent Garden. June/July 95 New Parsifal Opera Munich. In the season 1995/96 he sang besides several performances in Munich, Dresden, Hamburg and Berlin a concert-version of Freischütz with Abbado in Berlins Philharmonie. Also a new production of Onegin in Paris/Bastille. A new Tristan in Düsseldorf, also concert-version, and a new Flying Dutchman at the Hamburg Opera.
