The music of Kooii is unique, resting readily in a morphing Australian way of life. Their songs click with many, and the music is held dearly. Kooii breathe, roll and transform. They are a five-piece collective with a ‘rootsy-tribal-groove’ that is both urban and earthy. Reggae, Jazz and Latin are realised in the sound. Together, and with fellow Brisbane musicians, Kooii's members have experimented with many styles of music. Promiscuous and Kafka are among other bands through which these musicians have stemmed. For them there is recognition of the ultimate importance of rhythm and feel. There is also dedication to playing music that breathes vitality and embraces improvisation. The group has a willingness to play with space. Group harmonies uplift the sound.
