The group was formed in 1992 by DJs KløFar AOK and Ghetto Svend. Under the name Cool & Casual they produced hip-hop but needed a rapper for the band. They got in contact with rapper and producer BoZZ (later known as Kong Winther, today H19ng Winther) with the intend of making music in English. BoZZ, however, was more interested in rapping in Danish, and so they created the group Beat Around The Bush. The first live performances turned out successful, and in August 1992 they recorded ten songs in AOK Aalborg apartment for the demo Kun 1 Smule Pr. Vers. The music was heavily influenced by then Native Toungues bands Black Sheep, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, and other groups such as Brand Nubian og 3rd Bass. The lyrics were outgoing, sexual, and humorous. In the fall of 1995 Beat Around The Bush released a demo called "Skatten, Bomben og Kongen". The tape was sold in streetwear og record shops in Aarhus and Copenhagen where growing interest made the release a hit, and the homemade tapes were sold faster than the group could make them. Meanwhile they were contacted about having their song Nu Går Den Vilde Skattejagt on the hip hop compilation De Grimme Ællinger. It was about the same time that BoZZ changed his name to Kong Winther, and the group decided to rename themselves Kongehuset. Based on their latest recording, Chauførende, and a special on DR (Danish Radio) P1 the group was offered a contract with BMG in the spring of 1996. That summer they started touring with H
