Koen De Cauter (°1954) is a Belgian jazz guitarist and singer. His music has a strong gypsy and gypsy swing basis (like guitar virtuoso Django Reinhardt) but also draws influences from flamenco and typical jazz varieties such as New Orleans jazz and French Musette and Chanson. Wannes Van De Velde, Sammy Rimington, Sing Miller, Sam Lee, Topsy Chapman, Juanita Brooks, David Paquette, Piet Chielens, Johan Verminnen, Patrick Saussois, Jopie Jonkers, Daniel Colin, Jean Corti, Tcha Limberger and Fapy Lafertin are only a few of the people he has worked with. He mostly feautures in outfits such as De Cauter Quintet (with his three sons and daughter), Les P'tits Belges (Musette) or the Waso Quartet (aka Waso). His son Myrddin has released two flamenco guitar albums under his own name.
