Artist
The German tenor Knut Schoch specialises in the historical performance practice of music written before 1800, notably the oratorios of Georg Frideric Handel and J.S. Bach’s Passions, in which he sings the role of the Evangelist. He has worked with many well-known ensembles such as the Freiburger Barockorchester and the Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble and has appeared with conductors such as Thomas Hengelbrock, Ton Koopman and Sigiswald Kuijken. In 1993 Knut Schoch was appointed visiting professor of historical performing practice at the Hamburg Conservatory. In 1999 he became professor at the Hamburg Musikhochschule.
