Klára Körmendi was born in Budapest and studied piano at the Bartok Conservatory and the Liszt Academy, receiving a diploma with distinction in 1967. Then enjoyed success in competitions and concert tours across Europe. She is especially interested in contemporary music, and has recordings of Satie, Boulez, Messiaen, Berio and Holliger.
