Described as a band that is "impossible not to enjoy" and "has as much fun on stage as the audience does," Kingston 530 was founded in 2005 as an acoustic duo and transformed into a full, five-piece, acoustic pop rock act in 2009. In a short amount of time, they have taken the music scene by force and are not showing any signs of retreat. Dubbed "one of the hottest bands in Boston" by the Boston Globe and "one of the top bands to watch in 2011" by Boston Music Spotlight, the boys of K530 look to make 2011 even more memorable than last year. In 2010, K530 represented Boston in the Hard Rock Calling Ambassadors of Rock Competition, where they finished 3rd in the nation. Not three months later, they took top honors at the Boston Music Spotlight Battle of the Bands, opened for the Gin Blossoms, and were named Ambassadors of Ernie Boch Jr.'s Music Drives Us Foundation. As ambassadors, K530 has played numerous events for MDU, including headlining Shonda Schilling's SHADE Foundation Charity event and sharing a stage with Scott Stapp of Creed.
