See also "Kim Gordon, Ikue Mori, & DJ Olive". There were two separate projects, one with DJ Olive and one without.* Kim Gordon (guitar & vocals) & Ikue Mori (electronics) toured in 2012 [1]. Kim Gordon, a female influence for the riot grrrl movement out of Olympia, WA in the 1990s [2], was with highly talented & popular no wave band Sonic Youth in the 1980s & Ikue Mori performed as a drummer for no wave band DNA in the late 1970s [1]. Since then she has experimented with drum machines and has collaborated with several other artists and has done solo work [4] Gordon lived most of her early life in Los Angeles, U.S.βher father was a sociology professor and her mother was a "a homemaker with creative tendencies." Gordon attended a progressive elementary school that was attached to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and, in 2013, she provided a description from her time there: "βIt was learn by doing. So we were always making African spears and going down to the river and making mud huts, or skinning a cowhide and drying it and throwing it off the cliff at Dana Point.β [3] After her high school years, Gordon attended the Otis Art Institute of Los Angeles County and was briefly a student at York University in Toronto, Canada, where she played in her first band.
