Max Bouzinov and Mike Prisby had played around the Boston scene in a Black-Keys-influenced blues-rock quartet in 2012. After disbanding and playing separately in other bands for several years, Max and Mike came together again in the spring of 2016 with a folkier approach to songwriting. The resulting band has the overdriven spirit of an electric rock band with the intricacies of acoustic instruments and vocal harmonies. Chris Davis joined the band in early 2017, helping to expand Kid Wolf's acoustic sound, as well as providing the missing piece necessary to develop the band into a full electric outfit. After running a successful crowdfunding campaign to raise money for studio time, Kid Wolf joined up with Boston producer Mike Davidson to record at Davidson's Plaid Dog Recording Studio in Allston, MA.
