Khromozomes is a New York City based producer and also a collective featuring MCs, singers, and poets he has worked with. They have contributed tracks to a number of New Breed (in the Fat Jazzy Grooves and New York Hi-Fi series) compilations and self-releasing two vinyl Eps, Sugarcuts and Buttermilk Biscuits. They have demonstrated an ability to do a number of different styles from trip-hop to acid jazz to straight boom-bap hip hop, all done well and all with a definitely recognizable, gritty, moody, sound. Khromozomes are splicing beats, engineering rhymes and mapping the rhythmic phenom. Kristin Mainhart & Khromozomes: United by a belief in the improvisation that’s at the heart of jazz and hip-hop, Kristin and Khromozomes are now collaborating on intense, atmospheric vibes that defy the factory-assembled, conception of music endemic to American airwaves.
