Artist
Kevin Kantor is a spoken word poet, actor, teaching artist, & queer agent for social change. They are the founder & former artistic director of Greeley, Colorado’s SOAPbox Productions, a theatre company & poetry venue dedicated to furthering conversations that are politically engaged & culturally conscious through live performance art. Kevin has toured nationally with his poetry, performing & leading workshops at colleges & universities across the country. Their collective work has garnered over 5 million views on YouTube. Kevin's writing, which aims to subvert toxic masculinity, explore survivorship & trauma, & raise queer voices, has been featured on The Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, Upworthy, & is forthcoming in the anthology We Believe You: Survivors of Campus Sexual Assault Speak Out (Holt Paperback). Most recently, Kevin was featured on an episode of John Ridley’s ABC drama American Crime. Kevin was the coach & competing member of the University Of Northern Colorado’s 2014 and 2015 College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational Teams, both of which placed in Semi-Finals. At CUPSI 2015, they were awarded “Best of The Rest” and “Best Persona Poem.” Kevin was also a member of the 2012 Denver Minor Disturbance Poetry Slam Team, which took 1st in the world at Brave New Voices in Oakland, California.
