Artist
Kevin Fowley is a Franco-Irish musician who grew up splitting his time between France and Ireland. His bicultural and bilingual upbringing was a significant early musical influence; his French mother sang French lullabies, while his Irish father, originally from Donegal, played Donegal fiddle tunes. This dual background is reflected in his music, which incorporates elements from both cultures and spans folk, jazz, and other genres. Fowley has noted that thinking in French brings out a different side of his personality and encourages different thought patterns. In July 2024, Fowley released the record À Feu Doux on the UK-based label Basin Rock. The album is a collection of French lullabies and traditional folk songs, some dating as far back as the 14th century, which his mother sang to him as a child. Fowley adapted these songs with contemporary arrangements and faint tape manipulations, recording them in the attic of his Dublin home to capture a specific atmosphere, including room noise and floorboard creaks. Following the album's release, Fowley toured in 2024 and 2025 as a special guest for artists Oisín Leech, John Francis Flynn, and Nadia Reid across Ireland and the UK.
