The Kerekes Együttes [Ensemble] was founded in Eger, Hungary in 1995. At the start they played exlusively Csángó folkmusic and during that time they had personal contact with their masters from Gyimes. They play this music exaxtly as they have learned from them. After a while they where grabbed by the smashing power of Moldavian folkmusic and by the energy of Moldavian dances. The band modified their way of music in 2003, the traditional Csángó music complemented by modern musical influences. They made an original musical genre, what they call etnofunk. After the change the band continue under the name Kerekes Band. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
