Big Eye Records was created by Kenny Smith, an inspirational, Child Development Teacher by day and a professional, internationally-known, musician by night. To date, Kenny has had the pleasure of playing on five continents and in hundreds of cities all over the world and is on numerous recordings with many legendary musicians. When Kenny is not playing, as a way to give back to his community (and gain invaluable experiences in return), Kenny works as Child Development Teacher at the St. Vincent de Paul Center in Chicago, IL. Kenny was surrounded by music all of his life (Kenny’s father is renowned Blues drummer Willie Big Eyes Smith) and because of his upbringing, he understands the power of a song- how it can change a life, bring happiness or comfort and even teach something in the process. Kenny remembers how music provided a sense of connection to his family- dancing around the living room with his parents and grandmothers- and he decided he wanted all children to experience that joy and love of music. He soon discovered that he was as passionate about working with children as he was about music. The more time he spent in the classroom as a Child Development Teacher, the more he came to understand the influence he had and that the children truly looked to him as a role model. He was overwhelmed and humbled by this immense responsibility and took so much pride in knowing the impact he had. Kenny continues to want to share his gift of music with the children and
