Keith Taylor is an incredible jazz pianist with a gift for arranging familiar songs in a way that makes them fresh again. Jazz fans in the Huntsville, Alabama area are well acquainted with his lyrical touch and harmonic adventurousness. The Keith Taylor Trio also includes Tom Branch on drums and Jim Cavender on bass. Tenor saxophonist Greg Chambers spices up the instrumentation as a special guest on a few tracks. The musicians have played together in various groups for over twenty years, building a cohesive sound with strong group interplay. They had a lot of fun recording these tunes. The group recorded the holiday songs on "O Christmas Tree-O" in three sessions during the spring of 2008 at Roberts Hall on the campus of the University of Alabama in Huntsville, where Taylor, Cavender and Branch are music faculty members. The recording was produced and engineered by Cavender and released on his Startlingly Fresh label in November 2008. Keith decided to save one of the songs from the 2008 recordings for a different CD. He didn't expect to save the song for quite so many years, but the trio plus Greg Chambers finally got together again in 2013 to record "And So It Is". The the 2008 song, "Open", fit right in. All of the tracks on the new CD are originals written by Keith Taylor, except for two, "Notepad" and "A Glimpse Of You" written by Greg Chambers, and "Flying Monkey Theme" written by Jim Cavender.
